You're not dreaming. Yes, the movie that plays in your head when you go to bed at night is actually a real thing. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a 2001 Indian drama film about two families from different social backgrounds whose lives intertwine in Mumbai. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. The screenplay was written by Akhtar ul Iman and Javed Akhtar with dialogues by Akhtar ul Iman and Abbas Tyrewala being songs composed by Rajesh Roshan. It was directed by Karan Johar. In the film, Deepak "Dicky" Mehra (Shah Rukh Khan) is a young man from a wealthy family, who lives in high society and is able to do anything he wants because money is never a concern for him. His father, Rameshwar "Ramesh" Mehra (Amitabh Bachchan), is a businessman who owns a chain of hotels and is not interested in spending time with his wife and kids. He spends more time away from home than at home, always working on his next big project. His mother, Nandini (Jaya Bachchan) is a dutiful wife who takes care of the house and her children. She loves her family more than anything else in the world. Then there is Anjali Mehra (Kareena Kapoor), who is very independent and strong-minded and has complete faith in herself and does not believe anyone can influence or change her decision-making. However, this does not make her arrogant; she is very warm and friendly to everyone, including those she doesn't like. She seems to be very popular among men, but her heart lies with Dr. Sanjaya Malhotra (Hrithik Roshan), who dreams of beco ming a successful musician someday. The story begins when a baby boy named Rohit is born. He is very adorable and cute and it seems that no one will ever say no to him. The baby is offered to various people, but Deepak's parents like him best and take him home after a few days. Deepak's father Rameshwar (Amitabh Bachchan) wishes to name his son after himself, but Anjali suggests instead naming the baby after her college friend Ishvani (Kareena Kapoor). Rohit grows up like any ordinary child: he plays with his toys and enjoys playing outside in the neighborhood. He loves his parents and grandmother (Kamini Kaushal) very much, especially his father. He always wants to be like him and when he grows older he decides that he will be just like him. One day, Ishvani comes to visit their house along with her husband Rajat Kapoor (Manoj Joshi) and Rameshwar welcomes them warmly. On the other hand, Anjali is not too pleased about Ishvani's arrival because before marriage she had always said that she would never get married to a man who had no goals in life or no ambition to achieve something great. She states this before everyone at the party where Rameshwar introduces his family members to Rajat. cfa1e77820
